Huawei has unveiled the MateBook Pro S in China, expanding its premium laptop lineup with a lightweight design, a Kirin XE90 chipset and a 14.2-inch OLED display. The notebook starts at CNY 7,999 (roughly Rs. 1.13 lakh) and is available in multiple variants, including Soft Light Screen, Privacy Screen and Collector’s Edition models.

The laptop also brings HarmonyOS 6.1, AI-powered productivity tools, dual 1080p cameras and a claimed battery life of up to 18 hours.

Price and availability

The standard Huawei MateBook Pro S starts at CNY 7,999 (roughly Rs. 1,12,700) for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant.

The 24GB + 512GB model costs CNY 8,999 (roughly Rs. 1,26,800), while the 24GB + 1TB version is priced at CNY 10,499 (roughly Rs. 1,47,900).

Huawei has also introduced multiple premium editions.

The Soft Light Screen Edition starts at CNY 9,999 (roughly Rs. 1,40,800). Meanwhile, the Privacy Screen Edition is priced between CNY 10,299 and CNY 11,799 (roughly Rs. 1,45,200 to Rs. 1,66,200). The top-end Collector’s Edition with 32GB RAM and 1TB storage costs CNY 14,999 (roughly Rs. 2,11,200).

The standard and Soft Light Screen variants will go on sale in China on August 14. The Privacy Screen and Collector’s Edition models will become available on August 28.

OLED display and Kirin XE90 chipset

The MateBook Pro S features a 14.2-inch Flexible OLED touchscreen with a 3,120 x 2,080-pixel resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness.

The display supports both P3 and sRGB colour gamuts and is available in standard, Soft Light Screen and Privacy Screen options.

Powering the laptop is Huawei’s Kirin XE90 chipset paired with up to 32GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. It runs HarmonyOS 6.1 out of the box.

Packed with AI features

Huawei has bundled several AI-powered tools with the MateBook Pro S. These include Xiaoyi Smart Notes, Xiaoyi In-Depth Research, Xiaoyi Smart Search, AI Smart Karaoke and AI Noise Reduction Calls.

The laptop also supports Huawei Share, SuperTerminal, Cross-Device Clipboard, Keyboard and Mouse Sharing, Tap to Share and wireless screen casting to improve cross-device productivity.

Lightweight design with dual cameras

For video calls, the MateBook Pro S includes both a 1080p front camera and a 1080p rear camera. It also packs four speakers, six microphones and ambient light sensors on both sides.

The laptop features a full-size backlit keyboard with 1.5mm key travel and a pressure-sensitive touchpad that supports the Huawei M-Pen 3. A fingerprint scanner is integrated into the power button.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 6.0 and two USB Type-C ports, with one supporting DisplayPort output. Depending on the model, the side switch either activates the privacy display or disables the camera, microphone and location permissions.

The MateBook Pro S houses a 54Wh battery with support for 66W USB Type-C charging. Huawei claims it can deliver up to 18 hours of video playback. The standard model weighs just 798g, making it one of the lightest premium laptops in its category.
