Vivo appears ready to revive its S series in India after a long gap. Ahead of the official announcement, live images of the Vivo S2 have leaked online, revealing its design and colour options. The smartphone is also expected to launch on August 6, according to recent leaks, although Vivo has yet to confirm the date.
If the reports prove accurate, the Vivo S2 will become the first S-series smartphone from the brand since the Vivo S1, which debuted in 2019.
Live images reveal familiar Vivo design
The leaked images show the Vivo S2 in Black and Rose Gold colour options.
The rear panel houses a horizontally aligned dual-camera module, while the Vivo branding sits near the bottom. The images also suggest the phone could feature a polycarbonate body instead of a glass back.
On the front, the smartphone sports a curved display with a centrally placed punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The design follows Vivo’s recent premium-looking aesthetic despite targeting the mid-range segment.
Vivo has not commented on the leaked images.
Vivo S2 could target the sub-Rs. 30,000 segment
Leaks suggest Vivo plans to position the S2 in the competitive sub-Rs. 30,000 smartphone category.
The handset has reportedly appeared on the IMEI certification database with the model number V2576, indicating that development is progressing ahead of launch.
While certification listings do not reveal specifications, they often signal that a commercial launch is approaching.
Expected specifications
According to leaks, the Vivo S2 could feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,000 nits peak brightness.
Powering the smartphone could be the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 processor built on a 4nm process. The chipset is expected to deliver improved efficiency and solid mid-range performance.
The phone may also ship with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, although Vivo has not confirmed these details.
50MP camera and Android experience
The leaked dummy units indicate that the Vivo S2 will feature a dual rear camera setup.
Reports claim the primary camera will use a 50MP sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS), accompanied by a 8MP ultra-wide camera.
For selfies, Vivo could include a 16MP front-facing camera housed inside the punch-hole display.
Details about the battery capacity and charging speed remain under wraps.
What to expect
The Vivo S2 could strengthen Vivo’s position in the premium mid-range market, where it will compete with devices from OnePlus, Nothing, iQOO and Realme.
However, buyers should treat the leaked specifications with caution. Vivo has not officially confirmed the smartphone, its hardware or its launch timeline.
If the August launch happens as expected, the company is likely to reveal more details in the coming days.
