A fresh report suggests Samsung plans to improve the cameras across the entire Galaxy S27 lineup by introducing new Sony image sensors.
The leak covers all four expected models—the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra. It points to better ultrawide cameras, upgraded selfie shooters and changes to Samsung’s premium camera setup.
While Samsung has not confirmed any details, the latest information adds to several earlier leaks surrounding the Galaxy S27 series.
Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra could get a new Sony ultrawide camera
The biggest upgrade could arrive on the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
According to the leak, Samsung will equip both phones with a 50MP ultrawide camera based on Sony’s IMX855 sensor. The sensor measures 1/2.55 inches and could improve image quality, especially in low-light conditions.
Previous reports also claimed Samsung would use a 50MP ultrawide camera on its premium models. The latest leak strengthens that claim by revealing the exact sensor.
If Samsung adopts the Sony IMX855, it would mark another shift towards Sony sensors for flagship cameras.
Samsung may keep dual telephoto cameras on the Ultra
The report also suggests Samsung will continue using two telephoto cameras on the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Earlier rumours hinted that Samsung could simplify the rear camera setup and use only one telephoto lens. However, the latest leak contradicts those reports.
Instead, Samsung may retain its dual zoom system for the Ultra model. The Galaxy S27 Pro, meanwhile, could feature a single telephoto camera.
That difference would help Samsung clearly separate the Pro and Ultra models.
Another rumoured difference involves the S Pen. Earlier reports suggest Samsung may not include stylus support with the Galaxy S27 Pro.
Selfie camera could finally receive a major upgrade
Samsung may also improve the front cameras on its premium smartphones.
The Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature a 16MP selfie camera with autofocus. Autofocus usually delivers sharper selfies and improves video calling quality.
The report also claims Samsung is testing optical image stabilisation (OIS) for the Pro model’s selfie camera.
If true, it would become one of the first Galaxy S flagship phones to offer OIS on the front camera. The feature could improve handheld videos and low-light selfies.
Samsung has not introduced this feature on previous Galaxy S models.
Standard Galaxy S27 models may also benefit
Samsung may not reserve camera upgrades for the premium models.
