HP has introduced the OmniBook Ultra 16 (2026) and OmniBook X 14 (2026) with Nvidia’s newly announced RTX Spark superchip. The announcement came during Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC) keynote, where the chipmaker revealed its next-generation AI computing platform for consumer devices.

The new OmniBook laptops are designed around AI workloads. They target developers, creators, gamers, and users who want to run AI tools directly on their devices without depending heavily on cloud processing. HP says the laptops combine thin-and-light designs with enough power to handle advanced AI tasks locally.

The launch also signals a larger shift in the PC industry. Laptop makers are now moving beyond basic AI features and focusing on devices capable of running large AI models, AI agents, and heavy creative workflows on-device.

What Is Nvidia RTX Spark and Why Is It Important?

Nvidia RTX Spark is the company’s new AI-focused “superchip” platform. Instead of relying on separate components, the chip combines several computing elements into one integrated system.

The platform includes a custom 20-core Nvidia Grace CPU, an Nvidia Blackwell RTX GPU, Tensor cores, an NPU, and an NVLink-C2C modem. Nvidia says the chip was co-designed with MediaTek.

The RTX Spark chip also pushes local AI processing further. Nvidia claims it can run AI models with up to 120 billion parameters locally using AI agents. That is a major jump compared to current AI laptops that mostly depend on cloud-based processing for advanced tasks.

Nvidia is positioning RTX Spark as more than just another laptop processor. The company says the chip can deliver up to 1 petaflop FP4 AI performance.

The Blackwell-based GPU inside the platform includes 6,144 CUDA cores and fifth-generation Tensor cores. Nvidia also claims support for up to 128GB unified memory.

According to the company, the chip can handle 12K video editing in 4:2:2 format, generate 4K AI videos locally, and render 3D scenes larger than 90GB. Nvidia also says RTX Spark can run AAA games at up to 1440p resolution and 100fps.

Those specifications suggest the company is targeting advanced creators and AI developers instead of casual users alone.

Why Is HP Betting Big on OmniBook AI Laptops?

HP says the OmniBook Ultra 16 and OmniBook X 14 are built for users who need AI-ready hardware without bulky workstation designs.

Samuel Chang, Senior Vice President at HP, said the company wants to reduce “setup friction” for developers and creators through pre-configured environments and open-source toolchains.

That strategy reflects the growing race among PC brands to build laptops optimized for AI workflows. Companies are no longer competing only on battery life or raw performance. Instead, the focus is shifting toward how efficiently devices can handle AI-assisted work.

The OmniBook lineup appears to fit into that new category of “AI-native” PCs.

HP also claims the laptops will deliver all-day battery life while supporting Nvidia’s RTX technologies and AI software stack. However, the company has not yet revealed detailed specifications such as display resolution, RAM configurations, storage options, or battery capacities.
