MediaTek introduces new flagship chip
On September 22, 2025, MediaTek unveiled its latest flagship processor, the Dimensity 9500, aimed at premium 5G smartphones. The chip focuses on improving speed, gaming, and efficiency. According to the company, devices powered by this platform will launch in the fourth quarter of 2025.
CPU and performance upgrades
Unlike previous designs, the Dimensity 9500 adopts a third-generation all big core CPU setup. It combines a 4.21GHz ultra-core with three premium cores and four performance cores. In addition, support for four-lane UFS 4.1 storage ensures faster app loading and smoother data transfer.
Graphics boost with new GPU
To enhance visuals, MediaTek has integrated an Arm G1-Ultra GPU. As a result, the chip offers up to 33% higher peak performance and 42% better power efficiency. Moreover, double frame rate interpolation delivers gameplay at up to 120FPS, making mobile gaming more fluid.
AI-powered NPU for smarter processing
At the heart of the processor lies the ninth-generation MediaTek NPU 990 with Generative AI Engine 2.0. The unit doubles compute power and introduces BitNet 1-bit model processing, which cuts power use by up to 25%. Furthermore, always-on small models reduce energy consumption by more than 40%, supporting longer battery life during AI-driven tasks.
Camera capabilities with Imagiq 1190
For imaging, the Dimensity 9500 includes the MediaTek Imagiq 1190 ISP. It enables RAW-domain pre-processing, up to 200MP photo capture, and NPU-assisted focusing. Additionally, users can record 4K 60FPS portrait videos, delivering improved photography and videography experiences.
Smarter connectivity features
Beyond performance, the chipset introduces a robust connectivity suite. It brings MiraVision adaptive display, AI-powered Bluetooth call enhancements, and Wi-Fi fast transfer. With multi-network intelligence, smartphones will switch seamlessly between networks, ensuring stronger stability and call clarity.
Launch timeline
With these upgrades, the Dimensity 9500 positions MediaTek strongly in the flagship space. The first smartphones equipped with the processor are expected to arrive in late 2025. Consequently, the launch marks a significant step for MediaTek in expanding its presence in the premium smartphone market.
