Offers Features Like Lyrics & Queue Management
Spotify has rolled out a redesigned version of its Apple TV app, rebuilt entirely for a faster and more visual experience. The new update brings long-awaited features like video podcasts, music videos, and AI-driven playback control.
A Smarter, Faster Spotify for Apple TV
The company says the new Apple TV experience has been “rebuilt from the ground up.” Users can expect smoother navigation, quicker loading times, and a refreshed interface that mirrors the design of Spotify’s mobile app.
Earlier, many users had complained about the Apple TV version lacking key features that were already available on Google TV. The new update finally bridges that gap, bringing consistency across devices.
Video Podcasts Arrive on the Big Screen
Spotify’s latest update now supports video podcasts directly on Apple TV. If a podcast offers a video version, users can easily switch between audio and video. There’s also a playback speed control feature for those who prefer a faster or slower pace.
This move expands Spotify’s ongoing focus on podcasts. The company recently announced a partnership with Netflix and The Ringer to launch 16 new video podcast series in 2026, including The Bill Simmons Podcast and sports-themed shows covering the NFL, NBA, Fantasy Football, and Formula 1.
Music Videos Expand Globally
Spotify Premium users in 97 markets can now watch music videos within the app. When a track has a music video available, a “switch to video” prompt appears, allowing instant viewing. However, this feature isn’t available yet in the US and Canada.
The music video rollout marks Spotify’s latest effort to rival YouTube and Apple Music, both of which already offer rich video experiences.
More Features, Less Friction
Beyond video support, Spotify has added several handy mobile features to Apple TV. These include queue management, real-time lyrics, and seamless playback across devices. The update also introduces Spotify DJ, an AI-powered recommendation tool that curates tracks based on user taste.
Users can also control playback directly from their smartphones or tablets through Spotify Connect, making the transition between devices smooth and intuitive.
When Will You Get the Update?
The new Spotify tvOS app is already live on Apple’s App Store. Users with automatic updates will receive it by mid-November. Once installed, it replaces the older version entirely.
Spotify’s latest redesign shows the company’s continued push to bring its most advanced features to every screen — now including your living room.
