Why insurance firms care

One of the earliest business users may be insurance companies. Insurers need to model extreme events that happen rarely but cause massive losses.

With AI, they can run 10,000-member ensembles. They can zoom in on whether a specific neighborhood might flood. They can price risk with finer detail.

What the Earth-2 models do

Nvidia’s Earth-2 release includes three tools:

  • A model for 15-day global weather forecasts.
  • A short-range model focused on severe U.S. storms, up to six hours ahead.
  • A data-integration model that merges inputs from satellites, radars, and sensors.
