
How to Dub Reels Into Another Language While Retaining Own Voice?
Meta is making it easier for creators to reach global audiences. On Tuesday, the company announced the worldwide rollout of AI-powered voice translations across Facebook and Instagram. The feature is launching at no extra cost, starting with English and Spanish support.
Translating Voices with AI
The AI tool lets creators dub their reels into another language while retaining their own voice tone. Meta says the translations will sound authentic because the system replicates the creator’s style and sound.
Creators can also enable an optional lip-sync feature. This aligns the translated voice with lip movements, making content look more natural and engaging.
Who Can Use the Feature?
At launch, the tool is available to Facebook creators with 1,000 or more followers and all public Instagram accounts. Creators can access the option by selecting “Translate your voice with Meta AI” before posting reels. They can preview translations and toggle them on or off anytime.
Meta notes that viewers will see a small label indicating the reel was translated with Meta AI. Users who prefer not to see translated content can turn it off in their settings.
Expanding Reach Across Languages
Initially, translations are available only between English and Spanish, but Meta plans to expand to more languages. The company did not confirm which languages will be added next.
Creators will also gain new insights. A metric in the Insights panel shows views by language, helping them understand how translations boost reach.
For best results, Meta recommends that creators face forward, speak clearly, and avoid background noise. The tool supports up to two speakers, but overlapping conversations are not processed correctly.
Additional Options for Facebook Creators
Alongside AI-powered translations, Facebook creators can upload up to 20 dubbed audio tracks per reel. This allows them to reach audiences in multiple languages, even outside English- and Spanish-speaking regions. Unlike the AI feature, this option works both before and after publishing content through the Meta Business Suite.
Why It Matters?
Meta believes the update will help creators connect across cultural and linguistic barriers. Instagram head Adam Mosseri said the company wants to help creators “grow their following and get more value” from its platforms by enabling cross-language reach.
The launch comes as Meta restructures its AI division into four areas — research, superintelligence, products, and infrastructure. AI-powered translations appear central to Meta’s strategy of building tools that expand creator visibility worldwide.
