Instagram Will Finally Let You Rearrange Your Grid

One of the most requested Instagram features is finally here

How many of us have wanted to reorder our Instagram profile without deleting and reposting? That long-standing wish is now a reality. Instagram has officially announced that users will soon be able to rearrange the posts on their grid. This long-awaited update offers more control over how your profile looks—without needing to pin or repost older content.

Until now, Instagram profiles displayed posts chronologically. While you could pin posts to keep them at the top, that option was limited. With the new feature, you can now design your profile grid exactly how you want it to look.

Instagram said this has been one of their most requested features of all time. Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri first hinted at the update back in January. In fact, the company started testing the idea in 2022 but paused the rollout. Now in 2025, the grid-editing option is finally set to launch for all users.

Quiet Posts for More Comfortable Sharing

Instagram is also testing a feature that lets you share posts without notifying your followers. This means the post will go to your profile, but it won’t appear in anyone’s feed.

This feature is perfect for users who want to maintain a curated profile but without the pressure of likes or public reaction. As Mosseri explained in the blog post, “Creative expression can feel intimidating… we want to reduce that pressure.”

It won’t appeal to everyone — especially not influencers who rely on reach — but casual users may find this new layer of privacy quite useful.

Similar to Trial Reels for Creators

Interestingly, this new “quiet post” option builds on an existing concept. Instagram had previously introduced Trial Reels, which let creators post test videos without sending them to followers.

The idea worked: 40% of creators posted more often, and 80% of those saw better reach with their Reels. That success likely inspired Instagram to expand the idea beyond Reels and into regular photo and video posts.

Spotify Comes to Instagram Notes

Alongside these creative tools, Instagram is also enhancing Notes. Starting soon, you can share what you’re listening to on Spotify directly in your Instagram Notes.

This lets your followers see your real-time music taste — offering a new and lightweight way to express yourself on the platform.

It’s part of a broader push to make Notes more interactive and social, tapping into music as a shared experience.

New Drafts Initiative to Support Emerging Creators

Instagram also announced a new project called Drafts, aimed at supporting fresh creative talent. This isn’t a creator fund, but a hands-on initiative that offers selected creators various types of support — such as funding, partnerships, idea development, and networking.

A spokesperson told TechCrunch that Drafts will be customized for each creator’s needs. It’s designed to empower those building long-term projects on Instagram, beyond just viral content.

More Flexibility, Less Pressure

With these features — grid rearranging, quiet posting, Spotify in Notes, and Drafts — Instagram is giving users more flexibility and control. Whether you’re a casual user or an up-and-coming creator, the platform is clearly evolving to serve a wider range of needs.

The updates will roll out gradually, so keep an eye out for them in the coming weeks.
