Amazon Ignites the Tomb Raider Revival
Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics have officially kicked off a new era for the Tomb Raider franchise. Moreover, they confirmed two major titles arriving in 2026 and 2027, giving fans a rare double drop of Lara Croft adventures.
The studios revealed a modern reimagining of the series’ 1996 debut, along with an entirely new story set across Northern India. Both projects run on Unreal Engine 5 and aim to bring Lara Croft to a new generation of players.
Legacy of Atlantis Reboots the 1996 Classic in 2026
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis reimagines Lara’s first quest with modern design and striking visuals. The reboot is developed by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog, blending nostalgia with fresh ideas.
Players will explore forgotten worlds, solve dangerous puzzles, and confront deadly creatures while chasing the pieces of the mythical Scion. The new version stays close to the spirit of the original game, yet it introduces surprise elements crafted for today’s gamers.
The title launches in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
Catalyst Sends Lara Croft to India in 2027
The second title, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, marks a bold expansion of the franchise. Lara embarks on a large-scale adventure across Northern India as ancient forces clash with the present.
Crystal Dynamics began work on this project in 2022. Therefore, the studio promises the biggest Tomb Raider game ever built. The team also brings back Lara’s confident and commanding personality, a character style that defined her rise as a global icon.
The game releases in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
