Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem Update Is Live

Minecraft ends 2025 with its wildest update yet

Minecraft has released its final update of 2025. It is called Mounts of Mayhem. The update is now rolling out across Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition.

This update closes a busy year for Minecraft. Mojang delivered four major content drops in 2025. Mounts of Mayhem focuses on chaos, combat, and movement across land and water. Announced during Minecraft Live in September, the update now arrives fully packed. It introduces mounted combat as a core gameplay feature.

Minecraft adds a brand-new spear weapon

Minecraft finally gets a new tiered weapon. It is called the spear. This is the first major weapon addition in many years.

Players can craft spears using wood, stone, copper, iron, gold, diamond, or netherite. The spear offers longer reach than swords or axes. It supports quick jabs and charged attacks. Damage scales with speed and angle. The weapon works best during mounted combat.

Zombies, husks, and piglins can also use spears. A new Lunge enchantment adds forward thrust attacks at a cost.

Nautilus introduces underwater mounted travel

Mounts of Mayhem adds a brand-new underwater mount called the nautilus. It spawns across all ocean biomes. Players can tame it using pufferfish. Once tamed, it accepts saddles and special nautilus armor.

Riding a nautilus grants a unique breathing effect underwater. It also features a fast dash ability for ocean travel.

Undead mounts make survival more dangerous

Minecraft now features hostile mounted mobs. Zombie horses finally spawn naturally in Survival mode. Husks can ride camel husks in desert biomes. Drowned mobs can ride zombie nautiluses underwater. These mounts become neutral once players defeat the rider. Players can tame them but cannot breed them.

New hostile mob joins desert biomes

Mounts of Mayhem introduces a new mob called the parched. It acts as a desert-based skeleton variant. The parched fires weakness arrows at slower speeds. It remains immune to sunlight like husks.

Small changes that reshape gameplay

Mounted mobs no longer sink in water. Diamond horse armor now upgrades to netherite. Minecraft Java Edition also gains new graphics presets. These tweaks improve combat flow and visual flexibility.

A chaotic end to a landmark Minecraft year

Mounts of Mayhem marks the final update before versioning changes. It also sets the tone for a bigger 2026 roadmap. For now, Minecraft ends 2025 with controlled chaos. Mounted combat is no longer optional. It is essential.
