Halo: Campaign Evolved remake brings the classic to PS5, Xbox, and PC in 2026

Halo: Campaign Evolved remake confirmed for PS5, Xbox, and PC in 2026

Halo Studios is celebrating the franchise’s 25th anniversary with a stunning remake of the game that defined an era. Halo: Campaign Evolved reimagines the 2001 classic Halo: Combat Evolved with Unreal Engine 5 graphics, new missions, and cross-platform play. Moreover, it’s arriving on PlayStation for the very first time, alongside Xbox and PC.

A rebuilt campaign with modern gameplay

This remake goes far beyond a remaster. Halo Studios completely rebuilt the campaign with 4K visuals, smoother animations, and cinematic upgrades. Players can sprint, aim down sights, and enjoy faster, more fluid movement that feels modern yet stays loyal to Halo’s roots.

Weapons and vehicles also receive a full redesign. Developers added nine new weapons, enhanced lighting effects, and the ability to hijack enemy vehicles. Additionally, the upgraded four-seater Warthog offers extra space for co-op adventures, making missions more dynamic than ever.

New missions and returning voice talent

In addition to improved visuals, the game includes three all-new missions that serve as prequels to the main campaign. These missions expand character interactions between Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson while keeping the original storyline intact.

The studio also reunited the original voice cast to record new dialogue, bringing more emotional depth and sharper sound quality. Furthermore, the remastered soundtrack and refined cinematics elevate the entire storytelling experience.

Built for a new generation of players

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Halo: Campaign Evolved delivers breathtaking landscapes, realistic lighting, and meticulously detailed alien architecture. From sunlit beaches to eerie Forerunner structures, each environment feels alive and immersive.

Players can now team up in four-player online co-op with full crossplay across PS5, Xbox, and PC. Meanwhile, local split-screen co-op makes its return for those who prefer old-school couch play. By integrating the original game’s systems into the remake, Halo Studios ensures that combat and movement still feel unmistakably Halo.

A campaign-only experience with endless replayability

Instead of adding multiplayer, Halo Studios focused entirely on the campaign experience. The game introduces dozens of new “skulls” — gameplay modifiers that change difficulty and mechanics — offering endless replay value. In fact, developers confirmed that this is the largest skull collection ever featured in a Halo title.

Longtime fans will rediscover the story that shaped console shooters, while newcomers will experience Halo’s origins in a visually stunning form.

Halo: Campaign Evolved launches in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and for the first time, PlayStation 5. It will be available on Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming from day one.
