Whoop Unveils Sleeker Fitness Bands With ECG, Blood Pressure Tracking

Sleeker Design, Extended Battery Life

Wearable tech company Whoop has launched two new devices — the Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG — marking its first major hardware refresh since 2021. Both models offer upgraded internals, slimmer profiles, and a strong focus on long-term health tracking.

Designed for 24/7 wear, the new devices come with a 14-day battery life, significantly up from the four-to-five-day runtime of their predecessor, the Whoop 4.0. The hardware is now 7% smaller, while the onboard processor is 60% faster, offering a more seamless experience for users.

“We’ve taken everything we’ve learned over the past decade and built a platform to help our members perform and live at their peak for longer,” said founder and CEO Will Ahmed.

Three Tiers of Membership

It is also introducing new pricing tiers tied to its hardware:

  • Whoop One – $199/year (includes 5.0)
  • Whoop Peak – $239/year (includes 5.0 with advanced features)
  • Whoop Life – $359/year (includes MG and full medical-grade features)

Additional accessories, like extra bands, are sold separately. All memberships and accessories are available online.

Comprehensive Health Tracking

Both the bands offer an array of tracking features. Whoop One provides baseline metrics like sleep, strain, recovery, and menstrual cycle tracking.

Whoop Peak expands on this by adding a Health Monitor that displays respiratory rate, heart rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen levels. It also includes a real-time stress monitor and guided breathing exercises, catering to both performance and mental well-being.

A standout addition is Healthspan, a feature that analyzes nine different metrics to compute two key indicators:

  • Whoop Age – a comparison of biological vs. chronological age
  • Pace of Aging – the speed at which users are aging based on behavior

The company developed Healthspan in collaboration with the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, and users receive weekly updates and tips to improve these markers.

Medical-Grade Features

The Whoop MG, available exclusively with the Whoop Life membership, includes FDA-cleared ECG recording capabilities. Users can monitor heart rhythms and share downloadable PDF reports with healthcare providers. However, the ECG feature is not recommended for users under 22 or those with implanted cardiac devices. It launches in the U.S., UAE, and Qatar, with more countries to follow.

Additionally, Whoop MG introduces daily blood pressure insights, including estimated systolic and diastolic ranges. A traditional cuff-based reading is required as a baseline, and the tool is strictly for informational purposes — not for diagnosis or treatment. Currently in beta, this feature has been years in the making.

Conclusion

The company’s latest hardware refresh shows a clear move toward blending high-performance training tools with medical-grade health tracking. With longer battery life, better processing, and advanced metrics like ECG and blood pressure insights, the new lineup positions itself as a powerful all-day health companion.
