Pebble is back with another bold gadget, and this time, it is not a watch. Instead, the company has revealed the Pebble Index 01, a smart ring built around one idea—capturing your thoughts quickly. The ring starts at $75, and Pebble expects to ship it in March.
A Smart Ring That Remembers, Not Measures
Unlike other smart rings, the Pebble Index 01 does not track heart rate or sleep. Instead, Pebble focuses on memory. You press and hold the ring’s physical button and speak. The ring stores voice notes, reminders, and events. Moreover, it picks up your voice even in noisy places.
Simple Hardware With a Purpose
The stainless steel ring comes in eight sizes and three finishes. It has no vibration motors or displays. It also works offline with small built-in storage. When your phone is nearby, the ring syncs audio clips to the Pebble app for processing.
Two-Year Battery, No Charging Needed
Pebble avoids daily charging by using silver oxide hearing-aid batteries. These cells last up to two years. When the battery runs low, the app alerts you and you can replace the device. Pebble will recycle old units as well.
On-Device AI Keeps Your Data Private
The Pebble Index 01 uses an open-source speech-to-text model on your phone. A local language model sorts your clips into reminders, timers, or general notes. Pebble says none of this data leaves your phone, so your private thoughts stay offline.
Custom Actions and Integrations
The Pebble app supports custom actions. You can map a single press to play music or take photos. You can also connect the ring to apps like Notion for tasks. A double-press and hold triggers a ChatGPT-style bot for everyday questions, though this requires internet access.
A Fresh Category For Pebble
Pebble expects large demand for the Pebble Index 01, calling it a natural extension of how people capture ideas. With a simple design and offline-first approach, the company aims to make the ring a new everyday tool.
