One UI 8 Beta Is Here — And It’s Big
Samsung has started rolling out the One UI 8 beta. It is based on Android 16 and brings a lot of new changes. If you own a Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, or S25 Ultra, you can be among the first to try it out. The beta is now live in South Korea, and also showing up in the US, UK, and Germany. The update size is just over 3GB, so make sure you are on Wi-Fi and have enough storage.
Who Can Get It Right Now?
Samsung is rolling this update out first to its newest flagship phones. Only the Galaxy S25 series is part of the first wave. This includes the S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra. These phones are the first to get the One UI 8 beta before anyone else. The build version you will see is S938NKSU3ZYER.
Some users in the US with unlocked models and T-Mobile customers have already received the update. The UK and Germany also started seeing the rollout. If you live in India or Poland, you may see the beta banner soon. Samsung usually follows the same pattern with each beta release, and these countries are always among the early ones.
How to Join the One UI 8 Beta Program
Joining the beta is easy. Open the Samsung Members app on your phone. Look for the “One UI Beta Program” banner. Tap on it and follow the steps to enroll. Samsung has also made a new section inside the app called “Beta Program Home.” This is where you can check everything related to beta updates. You can also leave the beta, rollback to the stable version, or check for new updates.
What About Other Galaxy Phones?
Right now, only the Galaxy S25 lineup is part of the program. But Samsung might add more phones later. If you use a Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, or any older model, you’ll need to wait. These phones could get the One UI 8 beta after a few months. For example, last year’s One UI 7 beta came to older phones much later.
There’s also a new phone called Galaxy S25 Edge, but it may not get the beta yet. If it does, the rollout may be delayed. Samsung also plans to launch the Galaxy S25 FE later this year, and that phone will likely come with One UI 8 out of the box.
Why You Might Want to Wait
Beta updates are exciting but not always perfect. They may have bugs or features that don’t work well yet. So if you use your Galaxy phone for work or important stuff, you may want to wait for the stable version. But if you love testing new features first, joining the beta can be fun.
A Smoother Beta Experience This Time
Samsung has improved how users interact with the beta program. The “Beta Program Home” is a neat update. It helps users track their beta status, updates, and even offers tips. It also lists beta programs for Samsung apps and wearables, making everything easier to find in one place.
