Motorola has launched the Moto G96 5G in India, expanding its affordable 5G portfolio. The device arrives with a 144Hz curved pOLED display, a Sony Lytia 700C sensor, and a large 5,500 mAh battery — all for a starting price of ₹17,999.
144Hz pOLED Display and Smart Water Touch for Better Visuals
The Moto G96 5G features a 6.67-inch FHD+ curved pOLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate and 1,600 nits peak brightness. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, it also supports Smart Water Touch, making it more usable in wet conditions.
This is one of the few phones under ₹20,000 to offer both a curved display and 144Hz refresh rate. It adds serious value for gamers and media lovers.
Sony Lytia Sensor Brings Flagship-grade Photography to Budget Phones
In terms of optics, Motorola has gone bold. The Moto G96 5G uses a 50MP Sony Lytia 700C sensor with OIS. The secondary 8MP lens handles ultrawide, macro, and depth duties. The 32MP selfie camera supports 4K video, making it creator-ready.
Motorola has also integrated Google Photos’ AI features, including Magic Eraser, Magic Editor, and Photo Unblur, directly into the camera suite.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and 24GB Virtual RAM Boost Speed
Powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, the Moto G96 5G offers 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 24GB with virtual RAM. Storage options include 128GB and 256GB, both UFS 2.2. It runs a near-stock Android and will get one OS update and 3 years of security patches.
While the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 isn’t flagship-class, it’s efficient and capable of handling most daily tasks with ease.
Battery, Audio, and Protection Complete the Package
The Moto G96 includes a 5,500 mAh battery with 33W TurboPower charging. It supports dual stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and Moto Spatial Sound, enhancing media consumption.
It also boasts an IP68 rating, rare in this segment, making it dust and water resistant.
Variants, Pricing, and Availability
The phone comes in two variants:

- 8GB + 256GB at ₹19,999
Color choices include Ashleigh Blue, Greener Pastures, Cattleya Orchid, and Dresden Blue. The first sale begins July 16 on Flipkart, Motorola’s website, and leading retail stores including Reliance Digital.
