Apple Brings A19 Power, Pathbreaking New Designs and Apple Intelligence
Apple unveiled the iPhone 17 lineup on September 9, 2025, with several major changes. This year, the company introduced iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a new slim model called iPhone Air. Interestingly, Apple skipped the Plus model this time.
All devices feature the new A19 processors and Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI suite built into iOS 26. With brighter displays, stronger Ceramic Shield 2 protection, and upgraded cameras, the series marks a notable leap from last year.
iPhone 17: A Balanced Upgrade
The standard iPhone 17 comes with a 6.3-inch display offering a refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. Apple increased the peak brightness to 3,000 nits for better outdoor use.
Powered by the 3nm A19 chip, iPhone 17 runs on iOS 26 and integrates Apple Intelligence features. On the camera side, it sports a 48MP main sensor, a 48MP ultrawide lens, and an 18MP front camera.
The phone is protected with Ceramic Shield 2 and offers 24 hours of battery life. Apple is offering iPhone 17 in five colors, starting with 256GB storage at ₹82,900.
iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max: Power with New Design
Apple designed the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max with a brushed aluminium unibody and an integrated vapor chamber for better thermal performance. The plateau back design makes space for a bigger battery.
These models use the new A19 Pro chip, delivering 40% better sustained performance compared to the previous generation. The Pro lineup also debuts the N1 chip, enabling Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread for faster and more reliable connectivity.
Pro Models Push Camera Boundaries
Apple equipped the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max with three 48MP Fusion cameras — main, ultrawide, and a new telephoto lens. The system provides the equivalent of eight lenses, with optical zoom reaching up to 8x and digital zoom extending to 40x.
The new 18MP Center Stage front camera supports wider angles, AI-powered auto framing, and Dual Capture recording. ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock make the Pro models better suited for filmmakers and content creators.
iPhone 17 Pro starts at ₹1,34,900, while iPhone 17 Pro Max begins at ₹1,49,900. Both are available in deep blue, cosmic orange, and silver, with storage options up to 2TB.
iPhone Air: The Thinnest iPhone Ever
Apple also introduced iPhone Air, the slimmest iPhone to date at 5.6mm. Built with a titanium frame, it is light yet durable, protected with Ceramic Shield at the back and Ceramic Shield 2 in front.
The Air model features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion up to 120Hz and 3,000 nits brightness. It runs on the A19 Pro, paired with the N1 and C1X chips for maximum efficiency.
For photography, iPhone Air includes a 48MP Fusion main camera and the new 18MP Center Stage front camera. It will be available in space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue, starting at ₹1,19,900.
iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence
All models in the iPhone 17 series run iOS 26. Apple introduced a new design language called Liquid Glass, giving apps a fresh look while keeping them familiar. Apple Intelligence brings on-device AI for tasks such as live translation, screenshot-based search, and smarter call screening.
With updates to Apple Music, Maps, Wallet, and a new Apple Games app, the software ties the lineup together with a stronger focus on privacy and AI-powered assistance.
Availability
Pre-orders for iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone Air begin on September 12, with sales starting September 19. The standard iPhone 17 will also roll out in the same timeline.
With no Plus variant this year, Apple has reshaped its lineup, giving users a choice between balanced performance, professional-grade power, or the sleek new iPhone Air.
