AI-Secured Homes: Google Home and Nest Devices Powered by Gemini

AI-Secured Homes Thanks to Google Gemini

Google has unveiled a new generation of Google Home and Nest devices, designed around Gemini AI. The lineup includes upgraded Nest Cams, a redesigned Nest Doorbell, and a brand-new Google Home Speaker. Each device is built to deliver smarter, faster, and more secure experiences for homes worldwide.

Smarter Nest Cams and Doorbell

The new Nest Cam Indoor (3rd gen), Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd gen), and Nest Doorbell (3rd gen) bring the power of Gemini into everyday security.

They feature 2K HDR video quality, which is the highest resolution yet in a Nest device. Independent testing by DXOMARK ranked them number one in their categories for image clarity.

The cameras also capture wider and taller fields of view, helping homeowners see entire driveways, packages on the ground, or full-body visitor views. Low-light performance has improved significantly, with better colors at dawn and dusk, alongside powerful infrared night vision.

Gemini for Home Features

These devices introduce new Gemini-driven capabilities inside the Google Home app:

  • AI notifications deliver detailed alerts such as “dog jumps out of playpen.”
  • Search video history with Ask Home by asking questions like “What happened to the vase?”
  • AI-generated descriptions summarize events and highlight relevant video clips.
  • Home Brief condenses hours of footage into quick summaries for easier monitoring.

More Features Without Subscription

Out of the box, the new cameras include features without requiring a subscription. Users can digitally zoom, crop views, and receive intelligent alerts that recognize people, vehicles, animals, or packages.

The included event video history has been doubled from three to six hours, providing 10-second previews of each event. These additions make it easier to stay updated without extra costs.

Designed for Privacy and Sustainability

Google emphasized privacy and security in these devices. Every camera uses encrypted video, two-step verification, and a visible green LED that shows when video is streaming.

The new Nest lineup also highlights sustainable design. The outdoor cameras and doorbell use recycled materials with UV-resistant resins, eliminating paint while maintaining durability. Packaging is 100% plastic-free and made with recyclable paper and molded fiber.

The Nest Cam Indoor comes in Snow, Hazel, and Berry colors. The Nest Cam Outdoor is available in Snow and Hazel, while the Nest Doorbell comes in Snow, Hazel, and Linen.

Global Rollout and Pricing

The new Nest Cam Indoor is priced at $99.99, while the Nest Cam Outdoor starts at $149.99. The Nest Doorbell will cost $179.99. Availability begins October 1 across multiple markets including the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, and Europe.

Gemini for Home features will initially launch in the United States, Canada, the UK, Ireland, and Australia. Other regions will gain access in early 2026.

Walmart Partnership for Affordable Gemini Devices

To expand Gemini for Home, Google has partnered with Walmart to introduce onn Indoor Camera Wired and onn Video Doorbell Wired.

The onn Indoor Camera will cost $22.96, while the onn Video Doorbell will retail for $49.86. These devices will integrate with the Google Home app, offering affordable access to Gemini-powered features.

The Google Home Speaker

Google also introduced the first Google Home Speaker built for Gemini. It features custom processing for natural conversations, faster responses, and dynamic light ring feedback that shows when Gemini is listening or responding.

The device delivers 360° balanced audio and can be paired with Google TV for surround sound. Users can also group speakers across rooms or set them as stereo pairs. A physical microphone mute toggle ensures privacy.

Available in Porcelain, Hazel, Jade, and Berry, the speaker is wrapped in sustainable 3D-knitted yarn to reduce fabric waste. It will launch in Spring 2026 for $99.99 across major global markets.

A Smarter, Safer Future with Gemini

With these new launches, Google positions Google Home and Nest devices as central to secure, sustainable, and AI-driven living. Gemini powers not only smarter alerts but also intuitive ways to interact with home data, marking the beginning of a new era for connected households.
