Garmin Unveils Forerunner 570 and 970 for Runners and Triathletes

Garmin has officially introduced the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970, its most performance-focused GPS smartwatches to date. Designed for runners, triathletes, and endurance athletes, these wearables offer new training metrics, recovery insights, and Garmin’s brightest AMOLED displays so far.

Both smartwatches blend detailed physiological data with convenience, enabling athletes to stay informed and connected while training or recovering. The premium build and feature set of the 970 model makes it Garmin’s most advanced multisport watch yet.

AMOLED Displays, Smarter Training, and Seamless Workouts

Garmin equips both Forerunner models with vibrant AMOLED touchscreens while keeping the familiar 5-button layout for ease during activity. New additions like the Garmin Triathlon Coach training plans and custom multisport workout creation in the Garmin Connect app show the brand’s continued focus on adaptable performance tools.

A built-in speaker and microphone now allow athletes to take calls or use voice commands directly from the watch. Other features include an “Evening Report” that summarizes required sleep, tomorrow’s workout, weather, and events, making daily planning more intuitive.

The watches also support new race day aids like “Auto Lap by Timing Gates,” “Suggested Finish Line” trimming, and a “Projected Race Time Predictor,” all aimed at delivering realistic race-day insights.

Forerunner 970 Raises the Bar with Advanced Metrics

While the Forerunner 570 offers strong training capabilities and everyday health tracking, the Forerunner 970 adds elite-level metrics. It features a rugged sapphire lens, titanium bezel, and even a built-in LED flashlight for better low-light awareness.

The 970 introduces data-backed tools like Running Tolerance and Running Economy, both developed with input from Garmin’s sports physiologists. With the HRM 600 chest strap (sold separately), users can also access “Step Speed Loss” to evaluate ground contact efficiency.

Garmin’s ECG app, another 970 exclusive, helps detect atrial fibrillation by analyzing electrical signals from the heart.

Smarter GPS and Wellness Tracking

Garmin brings SatIQ™ and multi-band GPS to both models for better location accuracy with optimized battery usage. Forerunner 570 offers 11 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, while the Forerunner 970 stretches that to 15 days.

Daily health and wellness tracking include Body Battery™, HRV status, sleep score, menstrual and pregnancy tracking, and now, skin temperature variations. These insights, available through Garmin Connect, help athletes plan better and recover smarter.

Connected Features with a Purpose

Both watches support smart notifications, contactless payments via Garmin Pay, and music downloads from major platforms like Spotify, Deezer, and Amazon Music. Security features such as incident detection, assistance, and LiveTrack enhance safety during outdoor workouts.

Garmin Connect also now allows users to load race courses and activate new timing-based lap triggers, performance predictors, and personalized finish line trimming.

India Price and Availability

The Forerunner 570 is priced at $549.99 and and Forerunner 970 costs $749.99. Both models will be available starting May 21 on Garmin.com. India availability is expected shortly after through offline retail and e-commerce partners.
