Vantrue has introduced a new benchmark in vehicle safety technology. The company has revealed the Vantrue P2 (Pilot 2), the world’s first Vantrue dash cam to feature a built-in thermal imaging camera. This launch could redefine how drivers detect hazards on the road.

Unlike traditional dash cams, the Vantrue P2 uses thermal vision to read heat signatures. As a result, it can detect pedestrians, animals, and objects up to 200 feet ahead. This feature works even in darkness, fog, or heavy rain. It aims to reduce sudden surprises, especially during night driving or in poor visibility.

Thermal Vision Takes the Lead

The thermal camera focuses on safety rather than recording visuals alone. It highlights living beings and obstacles based on heat. This makes it easier to notice animals crossing the road or pedestrians appearing unexpectedly. For drivers, this adds an extra layer of awareness.

To make this feature practical, Vantrue includes a 6.25-inch high-brightness touchscreen display. Drivers can view the thermal feed in real time. The screen also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, bringing modern smart-cockpit features to older vehicles.

Four Cameras, One Complete View

The Vantrue P2 is not just about thermal imaging. It is a four-camera dash cam system. The front camera records in 2K (1440p) using Sony’s STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor. The rear camera uses the same sensor and resolution. This ensures matching video quality from both ends.

Inside the car, the cabin camera records in Full HD 1080p using a STARVIS 2 IMX662 sensor. All cameras support HDR. This helps maintain clarity in high-contrast conditions, such as tunnels or bright sunlight.

Smart Features for Daily Driving

The dash cam supports Wi-Fi 6 for faster file transfers. Users can review and download footage quickly. It also supports microSD cards up to 1TB, offering long recording hours.

Additionally, the Vantrue dash cam offers 24/7 smart parking monitoring when paired with a hardwire kit. Features like a head-up display and fatigue alerts further enhance its safety focus.
