TCL Note A1 NXTPAPER Takes on Kindle Scribe With a Paper-Like Color Display

Key Highlights:

  • TCL introduces the Note A1 NXTPAPER as a paper-like color tablet
  • The device uses NXTPAPER Pure display instead of E Ink
  • Focus stays on note-taking, reading, and productivity
  • Stylus support, AI tools, and audio transcription included
  • Kickstarter orders are live ahead of February 2026 release

TCL has officially introduced the Note A1 NXTPAPER, a paper-like tablet designed for focused reading and note-taking. The launch comes shortly after Amazon revealed its color Kindle Scribe, but TCL is clearly choosing a different display strategy. Instead of E Ink, the Note A1 NXTPAPER uses TCL’s custom NXTPAPER technology.

This move places the TCL Note in a growing category of distraction-free digital notebooks. The company positions it as a productivity-first device rather than a media tablet.

NXTPAPER Pure Display Targets Paper-Like Comfort

The TCL Note A1 NXTPAPER features an 11.5-inch NXTPAPER Pure display with a resolution of 2,200 x 1,440. It also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. This combination aims to deliver smoother scrolling and faster pen response compared to traditional color E Ink screens.

TCL says the screen reduces glare and eye strain while maintaining color clarity. This makes it suitable for long reading sessions, handwritten notes, and document review.

Built for Notes, Audio, and Document Capture

The tablet supports the T-Pen Pro, allowing users to write, sketch, and annotate directly on the display. In addition, the TCL Note A1 NXTPAPER includes eight built-in microphones. These microphones enable audio recording and real-time transcription during meetings or lectures.

A 13-megapixel rear camera is also included. It allows users to scan documents and convert physical pages into digital notes.

AI Features Focus on Productivity

TCL is putting strong emphasis on AI-driven tools. The Note A1 NXTPAPER supports handwriting beautification, real-time translation, and intelligent note organization. These features aim to help users manage handwritten and spoken content more efficiently.

The tablet runs Android, though TCL has not yet confirmed Play Store access. Cloud integration with services like Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive is supported.

Availability and Pricing Details

The TCL Note A1 NXTPAPER is available for early orders through Kickstarter with launch incentives. The tablet is expected to officially go on sale globally by the end of February 2026.
