BMW F 450 GS Unveiled: Key Details You Should Know

BMW Motorrad has officially unveiled the F 450 GS at EICMA 2025, and this motorcycle clearly signals a fresh direction for the brand in India. After discontinuing the G 310 GS, BMW now plans to re-enter the adventure space with a more capable and future-ready machine. Not only does the F 450 GS bring a new engine platform, but it also introduces advanced rider aids and stronger off-road hardware.

Before diving deeper, here are the key highlights you should know. The BMW F 450 GS gets an all-new parallel-twin engine. It focuses heavily on off-road riding. It packs modern electronics as standard. And finally, BMW expects to launch it in India by the end of 2025.

BMW F 450 GS marks a new ADV chapter for BMW in India

To begin with, the BMW F 450 GS sits in the entry-middleweight adventure segment, a category that continues to grow in India. Unlike its predecessor, this motorcycle arrives with a more aggressive design and a stronger road presence. BMW has retained the sharp ADV styling from the earlier concept, including the distinctive X-shaped quad LED DRLs.

At the same time, BMW has improved practicality. The extended fuel tank flows neatly into a single-piece seat, while the redesigned rear subframe supports both a pillion and luggage. As a result, the F 450 GS balances touring comfort with trail-ready intent.

New 420 cc parallel-twin engine developed with TVS

At the heart of the BMW F 450 GS is a newly developed 420 cc parallel-twin engine. BMW co-developed this motor with TVS Motor Company. The engine uses a 135-degree crankpin offset and a balancer shaft. This setup aims to improve refinement and reduce vibrations. The motor produces 48 bhp and 43 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. Higher variants also offer a quickshifter and BMW’s Easy Ride Clutch system.

Long-travel suspension and ADV-focused chassis setup

BMW has built the F 450 GS around a steel tube frame with the engine acting as a stressed member. The rear gets a bolt-on subframe and an aluminium swingarm. Suspension duties are handled by 43 mm USD forks and a monoshock. Both ends offer 180 mm of travel. The bike rolls on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup with tubeless dual-purpose tyres.

Rider aids designed for confident off-road riding

The bike comes loaded with electronics. Standard safety systems include lean-sensitive ABS Pro, traction control, and engine drag torque control. A 6.5-inch TFT display supports smartphone connectivity. Riders can choose between Rain, Road, Enduro, and Enduro Pro modes. Features like heated grips, adjustable levers, and a USB-C charging port add everyday convenience.

Where the BMW F 450 GS fits in the market

Once launched, the new bike will replace the G 310 GS as BMW’s most accessible adventure motorcycle in India. Pricing is yet to be announced. However, it is expected to take on rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Honda NX 500, and CFMoto 450 MT.
