Instagram Lets You Fine‑Tune What You See on Reels
Instagram is turning the spotlight on its users with a new AI‑powered “Your Algorithm” feature that lets you shape your Reels feed like never before. Starting in the US, this update allows you to view the topics Instagram thinks you love—and change them anytime.
A Smarter, More Personal Reels Experience
The new control panel, marked by an icon of two hearts on line sliders, sits at the top‑right corner of every Reels video. With just a tap, users can open a list of AI‑detected interests based on their recent activity. From there, they can easily remove irrelevant topics or add fresh interests to better guide what content appears next.
Instagram says the change is designed to make recommendations feel more personal, relevant, and dynamic as user preferences evolve. It’s like teaching Instagram what truly entertains you—and what doesn’t.
AI at the Heart of a Personalized Feed
Meta, Instagram’s parent company, is betting big on artificial intelligence to make feeds smarter across its apps. This new rollout follows Meta’s promise to give people more control and feedback tools. Users will soon be able to explain why a post doesn’t feel relevant, helping fine‑tune future suggestions.
Interestingly, Meta plans to extend adjustable algorithms to the Explore tab on Instagram and even its text‑based platform, Threads. On Threads, users will reportedly shape their experience by tagging posts with commands like “dear algo.”
Coming Soon to India
Although the “Your Algorithm” feature is first debuting in the US, a global English rollout is on the way. For India’s massive Instagram community—especially content creators and Reels lovers—this could be a game changer. It will finally let users design their own content discovery experience instead of relying entirely on AI assumptions.
