Professional Power in a Flexible Form
Canon has expanded its mirrorless lineup with the launch of the EOS R6 III, a new full-frame hybrid camera built for professionals and creators. The camera features a 32.5MP sensor, a big jump from the 24MP resolution on the R6 II, offering sharper detail and improved low-light performance.
Faster burst speeds and better autofocus
The EOS R6 III delivers up to 40 frames per second with the electronic shutter and 12 fps with the mechanical shutter. It also includes a pre-shooting mode that captures moments 0.5 seconds before you press the shutter — ideal for wildlife and sports photography.
Powered by Canon’s Dual Pixel AF system and the latest Digic X processor, the camera offers faster focusing and improved tracking. The AI-based autofocus detects people, animals, and vehicles, while the Register People Priority feature lets you lock focus on specific faces you’ve saved.
Big video upgrade with 7K RAW capture
The biggest update comes in video. The EOS R6 III can record 7K 60fps RAW Light and 7K 30fps open-gate footage, with 4K up to 120fps options. Canon’s C-Log2 and C-Log3 profiles give creators more flexibility for color grading.
Videographers will also appreciate waveform monitoring, full-size HDMI output, and the improved in-body stabilization rated at 8.5 stops. The camera supports multiple recording formats, including RAW, RAW Light, HEVC S, and AVC-S, covering both high-end and efficient workflows.
Familiar design, better usability
Canon has kept the tried-and-true design of the R6 II, offering a comfortable grip, three control dials, and a fully articulating rear display. The CFexpress slot now supports high-speed data transfer for 7K recording, paired with an SD UHS-II slot.
Battery life remains around 390 shots, and the body includes USB-C, mic, and headphone ports. Though the flip screen doesn’t tilt like Panasonic’s S1 II, it still serves vloggers and handheld shooters well.
Price and availability
The Canon EOS R6 III will be available later this month for $2,799 (body only) or $4,049 with the RF24-105 F4 L IS USM lens. Canon also launched the RF45mm F1.2 STM lens, priced at $470, weighing just 346 grams, and designed for portrait and low-light photography.
With 7K video, fast burst speeds, and advanced autofocus, the Canon EOS R6 III is shaping up to be a strong contender in the mid-range full-frame segment.
