A smarter way to fix meeting times

The feature is designed for one-on-one meetings, not group scheduling. Once you type your request — for example, “Help me schedule a meeting with Priya next week” — Gemini checks both calendars (if access is allowed) and surfaces options that fit.

You can then review and send those options directly to the recipient. Once they pick a time, the meeting gets added automatically to both calendars.

This integration bridges Gmail and Calendar through Gemini, saving time and removing the usual back-and-forth of scheduling.

Part of a bigger AI upgrade in Google Workspace

The scheduling tool isn’t an isolated update. It’s part of a wider rollout of Gemini features across Google Workspace — covering Docs, Sheets, Slides, and more.

Google has been steadily building AI into the tools people use every day. Along with this new meeting scheduler, the company recently introduced its latest image editing model, Nano Banana, to Google Search, Photos, and NotebookLM.

Gemini is also making its way into Google Slides, enabling users to add AI-generated visuals. In Google Vids, it enhances video editing workflows, while NotebookLM now supports richer content formats and better summarization.

When you start composing an email to set up a meeting, you’ll see a Gemini icon in Gmail. Clicking it opens the “Help me schedule” prompt. From there, you can ask Gemini to find the best times for you and your recipient.

If your Google Calendar is synced, the AI automatically checks your availability and proposes ideal slots. It even considers time zones if you’re scheduling across regions.

The process feels like chatting with an assistant that knows your schedule. Gemini handles the tedious part — checking overlaps, finding free windows, and formatting the invite.
