Jio’s Haptik Brings WhatsApp AI Agents to Small Businesses

Haptik, a Reliance Jio Platforms subsidiary, has launched WhatsApp and voice-based AI agents for small and medium businesses (SMBs). The service starts at Rs 10,000 and aims to make AI-driven automation affordable and easy to use.

Designed for WhatsApp-First Businesses

Most SMBs in India rely on WhatsApp as their main customer channel. Therefore, Haptik has integrated AI agents into its product Interakt, which already serves more than 50,000 businesses. Now, companies can deploy these AI agents without coding or complex setups, making the shift seamless.

What the AI Agents Can Do

The new AI agents go beyond simple chat responses. They handle customer support, bookings, lead qualification, and follow-ups efficiently. As a result, businesses can resolve up to 80% of repetitive queries automatically. In addition, firms using the tool have reported a 20–25% rise in lead-to-sale conversions.

Voice Agents Replace Traditional IVRs

Along with WhatsApp bots, Haptik has also rolled out voice-based AI agents. These agents replace traditional IVRs with contextual and conversational replies. They manage queries, bookings, and follow-ups across 22 Indian languages. Moreover, they stay active around the clock, ensuring that customers never wait for answers.

Early Use Cases Across Sectors

Several companies have already tested these AI agents in real-world scenarios. For example, Re’equil uses them for post-purchase feedback. Similarly, Pantheon Development employs them to pre-qualify real estate leads. Meanwhile, Aster Hospitals in the UAE rely on the agents for multilingual appointment reminders and follow-up care. Consequently, these examples show how AI can scale across healthcare, real estate, and retail.

CEO’s Vision for AI and Growth

Haptik CEO Ahshad Jussawalla emphasized that AI should become a growth driver rather than just a technology layer. According to him, AI delivers real value when it improves outcomes such as customer satisfaction, reduced churn, and lower cost per lead. Therefore, the company is focused on tying AI to measurable business growth.

Expanding Reach in India

Looking ahead, Haptik plans to onboard 300,000–500,000 small businesses in the next two years. The company already works with major enterprise clients such as Jio, Ola, PVR, Adani, Unilever, and Zepto. With this new SMB-focused initiative, Haptik is positioning WhatsApp AI agents as one of the most accessible digital tools for India’s growing business sector.
