Industry Overview: Navigating a Transformative Phase

The Indian automotive industry is undergoing significant changes, influenced by evolving consumer preferences and government initiatives. In 2024, total domestic passenger vehicle sales between April and November grew marginally by 1%, with car sales declining 12% and utility vehicle sales increasing 12.9%. SUVs now account for more than 60% of the country’s vehicle sales, a trend expected to continue in the coming years.

Manufacturers are focusing on innovation and sustainability, investing in electric, autonomous, and connected vehicle technologies to remain competitive. Government initiatives, such as the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, are encouraging domestic manufacturing and innovation, strengthening India’s position in the global automotive market.
