OPPO Find X8 Ultra Review: A Flagship Marvel You Can’t Buy in India
The OPPO Find X8 Ultra has launched in China at CNY 6,499 (roughly ₹77,924). But much like its predecessor, the Find X7 Ultra, this camera-centric flagship isn’t coming to India. For those waiting for OPPO’s most premium offering, that’s a disappointment. The phone is packed with advanced camera tech, a massive battery, and a refined design. Yet, Indian buyers will have to admire it from afar.
Despite the limited availability, it’s still worth understanding what makes this device such a standout—and what could still be better.
A Fresh Look with a Familiar Camera Identity
The first thing you’ll notice is the massive camera ring on the back. It screams premium and makes the phone look built for serious photography. Hasselblad branding is still present, making the phone feel like a professional tool. While it looks top-heavy, the device is surprisingly balanced in hand.
OPPO ditches the dual-tone vegan leather of the X7 Ultra. In its place is a clean, all-glass back in a subtle Shell Pink hue. The shade shifts under different lights, adding visual flair without going overboard. Its IP68 and IP69 ratings also promise protection against water and dust.
Interestingly, it includes an “Essential Key” on the left, similar to OnePlus’s Alert Slider. You can customize it as needed, giving a personal touch to utility. The bezels are extremely thin—only 1.4mm—helping the display feel immersive.
Display: Bright, Vivid, and Smart
OPPO packs a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with 3168 x 1440 resolution. It’s sharp, colorful, and smooth with its adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. Whether you’re gaming or watching HDR content, the visuals shine through. It supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and 10-bit color, making it ideal for multimedia fans.
Peak brightness hits 2,500 nits. While that’s slightly lower than some rivals, visibility remains solid even outdoors. The display can drop to 1Hz when idle and ramps up only when needed, saving power without hurting performance.
ColorOS and AI Features Add Smart Touches
Running Android 15 with ColorOS 15, the software looks more refined than before. The interface borrows a bit of Apple’s polish while keeping Android’s flexibility. Icons, quick settings, and animations feel smooth and modern.
OPPO’s Breeno AI has matured. Features like AI Writer, AI VoiceScribe, and AI Eraser are useful and easy to use. Breeno’s version of “Circle to Search” also works well. The gallery app now includes tools like AI Recompose and Enhance Clarity. These additions are meaningful, not just gimmicks.
Processor
The OPPO Find X8 Ultra features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite chip. Paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, it’s among the most powerful Android phones out there. Multitasking is effortless. Demanding games like Genshin Impact run at high frame rates without stutters.
OPPO includes a complex cooling system that uses graphite, copper, and a vapor chamber. Even the display has a copper backing to help with heat. During extended gaming, the phone remains cooler than most other flagships.
Cameras: The Real Showstopper
OPPO’s biggest strength lies in the camera setup. There are four 50MP lenses on the rear. The main sensor is a massive 1-inch Sony LYT-900. It captures photos with stunning detail and realistic colors, especially in daylight.
The phone features two telephoto lenses—3x and 6x zoom. The 3x zoom has an f/2.1 aperture and can focus as close as 10cm. This makes macro shots look professional, whether it’s a petal or an insect. Low-light performance is just as impressive, with great shadow detail and low noise.
Portraits stand out due to OPPO’s True Chroma Camera. It uses a 9-channel multispectral sensor to get accurate skin tones even under artificial light. Moon shots? They’re stunning. Unlike many phones that oversharpen or blur the moon, this one nails it with clarity and subtlety.
The ultrawide camera, while slightly downgraded in sensor size, still performs well. You get clean, distortion-free images. The 32MP front camera with autofocus delivers sharp selfies and performs reliably in all lighting conditions.
Battery Life: Long Lasting and Fast Charging
This year, OPPO jumps to a massive 6100mAh battery. It’s a welcome upgrade from the 5000mAh unit on the X7 Ultra. Expect well over a full day of usage, even if you’re streaming and gaming.
The phone supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless. Reverse wireless charging is there too. It hits 100% in under 40 minutes. OPPO also allows slower charging modes to extend battery health—great for long-term users.
Final Thoughts
The OPPO Find X8 Ultra is an excellent phone. It balances hardware, software, and camera tech beautifully. It even undercuts many rivals on price when you look at the raw specs. But for Indian users, the phone is out of reach unless imported.
That’s the biggest flaw here. The Find X8 Ultra deserves a wider audience. But if you live outside China, it’ll remain a phone you read about—not one you hold.
