Amazon has introduced Echo Time, a smart alarm clock designed to make bedtime and morning routines more convenient. Powered by Alexa+, the device combines a customizable display, smart alarms and sleep-focused features.

The new Echo is designed specifically for bedside use. It features a spherical body, a 3.2-inch circular touchscreen and a camera-free design. Users can personalize the display with hundreds of clock faces, including analog, digital, seasonal and character-themed designs.

Amazon has priced the Echo Time at $199.99. It is available in Graphite, Glacier White and Coral Pink. A matching adjustable stand costs an additional $39.99.

Amazon Echo Time features and smart alarms

Echo Time offers more than a traditional digital clock. Users can ask Alexa+ to set alarms, play relaxing music and adjust compatible smart-home settings. They can also request reminders for everyday tasks, such as remembering to take lunch before leaving home.

The clock includes an optional smart alarm feature designed to help users wake up during lighter sleep. Instead of ringing at one fixed moment, it can wake users within a window of 10 to 60 minutes before their set alarm time.

Amazon says the feature uses Omnisense, its sensor-fusion technology. Room-temperature sensors and presence detection help establish a sleep routine. Ultrasound also detects breathing and proximity, according to the company.

The feature works without requiring users to wear a fitness band or smartwatch. However, sleep sensing is optional and must be enabled by the user.

Alarm tones are customizable, and each starts quietly before gradually becoming more energetic. The alarm can increase in intensity with each snooze, up to four times.

Adaptive display focuses on bedtime and mornings

Echo Time’s display adjusts its appearance throughout the day. As morning approaches, it gradually brightens to mimic a natural sunrise. Amazon says this approach is designed to make waking up feel gentler.

At night, the display switches to a dimmer mode. It can show only the time or the next alarm while reducing blue light.

Amazon says Echo Time has earned the National Sleep Foundation’s SleepMark. The recognition is awarded to sleep products that meet evidence-based sleep-health standards.

These features position Echo Time as a bedside device that combines timekeeping with sleep-focused routines. However, its lighter-sleep alarm should not be treated as a guarantee of better sleep or improved alertness for every user.

Amazon Kids Echo Time price and features

Amazon has also announced the Amazon Kids Echo Time, designed for younger users. It starts at $209.99 and includes a one-year Amazon Kids+ subscription.

The children’s version comes in Galactic Grape and Cosmic Lime. Kids can set alarms, check the weather, ask Alexa questions and customize their clock faces.

It also supports Sleep Studio, which provides bedtime content from Calm, Headspace and Moshi. Parents can configure sleep schedules through the Amazon Parent Dashboard. This allows bedtime content to begin automatically according to the selected schedule.

Privacy controls and availability

Amazon says privacy controls are built into Echo Time. The device has visual indicators when Alexa is listening and a dedicated button to turn off its microphones.

Sleep sensing is opt-in, and users can disable it through the device settings in the Alexa app. They can also turn off the microphones using the mute button.

The standard Echo Time costs $199.99, while its adjustable stand is sold separately for $39.99. Amazon Kids Echo Time starts at $209.99 with a one-year Kids+ subscription.
