Apple has rolled out iOS 27.2, bringing new artificial intelligence features, expanded language support and security fixes to its devices. The update improves Siri’s ability to remember past conversations and use personal context to answer questions.

The release also introduces changes to FaceTime, Messages, Podcasts and Apple TV-related viewing features. Apple has included more than 160 security fixes, making the update relevant to users concerned about device security.

iOS 27.2 makes Siri AI more personal

One of the biggest changes in iOS 27.2 is expanded language support for Siri AI. The assistant now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in beta.

Apple has also improved Siri’s memory capabilities. The assistant can remember details from earlier conversations and use them to personalise subsequent responses.

Siri can draw on information from several sources, including photos shared in Messages, calendar event attendees, voicemails, Safari history and reading lists. Users can also choose which apps Siri AI should exclude from its memory.

These changes reflect a broader push towards AI assistants that retain useful context instead of treating every interaction as a separate conversation.

iOS 27.2 adds features for iPhone Duo and FaceTime

The update brings Apple Pencil support to the foldable iPhone Duo. Users can use the stylus in apps such as Notes and Preview.

Apple has also added an Edge Light effect to improve how users’ faces appear during video calls.

FaceTime receives additional changes. Dual Capture allows users to stream video from the front and rear cameras simultaneously during group calls. Users can also add third-party sign language interpreters or live captioners to calls.

These additions expand the options available for video communication and accessibility.

Messages, Podcasts and Apple TV get updates

iOS 27.2 makes it easier to turn conversations into tasks. The system can suggest adding a message to Reminders or creating a Calendar event.

Shared Albums now let users edit captions and add comments. The update also introduces reminders about when a shared folder will expire.

Apple has refreshed the Podcasts app to highlight new episodes from followed shows and episodes users are already listening to.

For sports viewers, Multiview on iPhone supports watching up to four live streams simultaneously through Apple TV. Supported viewing options include Major League Soccer, Formula 1 in the US and Friday Night Baseball doubleheaders during the Major League Baseball season. F1 viewers can also watch multiple feeds during a broadcast.

Apple iOS 27.2 update includes over 160 security fixes

Security is another major part of the release. Apple says iOS 27.2 includes more than 160 security fixes, with several also made available for older iOS versions.

Apple has also released a specific fix for iOS 18, which launched in 2024. The company says the vulnerability may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on older iOS versions.

Apple has not identified who carried out the attack or provided further details about the targets.

The company has also backported many fixes to iOS 26, allowing users who have not upgraded to the latest major version to receive some protections.

Should you install iOS 27.2?

The update offers practical improvements for users who rely on Siri, FaceTime, Messages and Apple’s media apps. Its security fixes also make it important for users to check whether the update is available for their devices.

Users should review the update details and install compatible security updates promptly. Those who use older iOS versions should also check Apple’s documentation for the fixes available to their devices.
