Apple has launched its refreshed 24-inch iMac in India, bringing the new M6 chip and Apple Intelligence features to its all-in-one desktop lineup. The new iMac starts at ₹1,74,900 and combines a 4.5K Retina display with a compact desktop design.

The 2026 model targets users who want a desktop for everyday computing, creative work and productivity without buying a separate monitor. It also introduces Apple’s latest processor, which the company says improves on-device AI performance.

Pre-orders are open in India, and sales will begin on November 6. The computer is available in seven colours, giving buyers more choice when setting up a home or office workspace.

Apple iMac M6 price in India and configurations

The base iMac costs ₹1,74,900. It includes a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, 16GB of unified memory and 256GB of storage.

Apple also offers a higher configuration with a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU for ₹1,99,900. Buyers can configure the computer with up to 32GB of unified memory and up to 2TB of onboard storage.

These options matter because memory and storage affect how comfortably a desktop handles demanding workloads and large files. Users who mainly browse the web, manage documents and attend video calls may find the base configuration sufficient. People working with large creative projects or multiple demanding applications should evaluate the higher-memory and storage options.

The iMac is available in Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Silver and Yellow. Apple also offers an optional nano-texture matte glass finish for the display at an additional cost.

4.5K Retina display designed for work and entertainment

The new iMac features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with a resolution of 4,480 × 2,250 pixels and peak brightness of 500 nits.

The high resolution gives users space to work with documents, spreadsheets, photographs and multiple windows. It could also benefit video viewers and creative professionals who want a large, detailed screen without purchasing a separate monitor.

The optional nano-texture finish is designed to reduce glare. This could be useful for people working in brightly lit rooms, although buyers should check the additional cost before selecting it.

Apple has also included a 12-megapixel front camera with Center Stage and support for 1080p video recording. Center Stage helps keep people in frame during supported video calls, making the iMac suitable for remote meetings and online collaboration.

M6 chip brings Apple Intelligence and faster AI processing

The iMac runs on Apple’s M6 chip, which uses a 2nm manufacturing process. Depending on the configuration, it includes up to a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators in every core. It also features a dual 16-core Neural Engine.

Apple claims the new iMac delivers up to 12 times faster on-device AI prompt processing in LM Studio compared with the M1-based iMac. The company also claims up to five times faster performance compared with the M4 version.

These figures come from Apple’s own comparisons. Actual results can vary depending on software, task complexity and configuration.

The computer runs macOS 27 Golden Gate and supports Apple Intelligence features, including AI-powered Siri. These tools aim to help users find information and complete supported tasks through Apple’s software ecosystem.

For buyers, the main benefit will depend on how frequently they use AI features or demanding applications. Users with older Intel-based or M1 Macs may want to assess the performance gains against the cost of upgrading.

Connectivity and accessories

The new iMac supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and upgraded 2.5Gb Ethernet. It also includes up to four Thunderbolt ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The desktop works with Apple’s Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad. These accessories provide options for users who prefer different ways to interact with their computer.

With its built-in display, camera and processing hardware, the iMac offers a straightforward desktop setup. However, buyers should check the selected configuration’s memory, storage and port requirements before ordering.

The Apple iMac M6 starts at ₹1,74,900 in India, with the higher CPU and GPU configuration priced at ₹1,99,900. Pre-orders are open, and sales begin November 6.

For users who want a new all-in-one desktop, the updated display, processor and connectivity are the key changes to consider. Whether the upgrade makes sense will depend on their existing computer, daily workload and chosen configuration.
