Dell has launched two new rugged laptops in India, targeting professionals who need computing devices for demanding work environments. The Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme and Dell Pro Rugged 14 combine Intel Core Ultra processors with reinforced builds and enterprise-focused features.

The Pro Rugged 13 Extreme is the more durable of the two, with an IP66 rating and certifications for specialised operating environments. Meanwhile, the Pro Rugged 14 offers a semi-rugged design, a brighter display option and support for a discrete Nvidia GPU.

Both laptops feature neural processing units (NPUs) rated at up to 50 TOPS. They also support Windows 11 Pro, wireless connectivity options and 53.5Wh batteries.

Both laptops are available to purchase through Dell’s online store in India. The company has not detailed the complete configuration-wise pricing in the provided announcement.

Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme specifications and features

The Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme features a 13.3-inch Full-HD touchscreen with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The display supports a refresh rate of up to 60Hz and includes an anti-glare coating.

The laptop can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra X7 368H vPro processor. The chip features a 16-core CPU with a peak clock speed of 5GHz and an NPU rated at up to 50 TOPS. Graphics options extend up to the Intel Arc B390 GPU.

Dell offers up to 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a 2TB SSD. The laptop runs Windows 11 Pro and carries an IP66 rating for dust and water resistance. It also meets HazLoc C1D2, MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461G standards.

For connectivity, the laptop supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and 5G through a Qualcomm Snapdragon X72 modem. It also includes GPS, a 5-megapixel webcam and a nano-SIM slot.

Its ports include two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, Ethernet, HDMI 2.1, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card slot.

The Pro Rugged 13 Extreme packs a 53.5Wh battery and supports up to two hot-swappable batteries. It also supports up to 105W wired charging. With its bumpers attached, the laptop measures 332.4 x 228.4 x 43.5mm and weighs approximately 2.41kg.

Dell Pro Rugged 14 specifications and features

The Dell Pro Rugged 14 features a 14-inch Full-HD+ touchscreen with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels. The display uses a 19:10 aspect ratio, offers up to 1,100 nits of peak brightness and includes an anti-glare coating.

It runs on an Intel Core Ultra 7 366H vPro processor with a 16-core CPU and a peak clock speed of 4.8GHz. Its NPU delivers up to 50 TOPS, while integrated Intel graphics handle standard graphics workloads.

Dell offers up to 64GB of LPCAMM2 RAM and up to 2TB of SSD storage. Buyers can also configure the laptop with an Nvidia RTX Pro 500 Blackwell GPU featuring 6GB of GDDR7 memory.

The Pro Rugged 14 has an IP53 rating for dust and splash resistance. Dell claims it can withstand drops from up to three feet and operate in temperatures ranging from -20 to 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

Like the Extreme model, it includes a 53.5Wh battery, support for up to 105W charging, a 5-megapixel webcam, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, 5G connectivity and GPS.

Its ports include one RJ-45 Ethernet port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 4 port, one USB 4 Type-C port, HDMI 2.1 and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The laptop measures 334.1 x 238 x 40mm with its bumpers attached and weighs approximately 2.13kg.

Both laptops target demanding work environments

The two new laptops focus on professionals who need more than a conventional business notebook. Their reinforced designs, specialised certifications and connectivity options target field operations and other challenging work environments.

The Pro Rugged 13 Extreme offers stronger dust and water protection, along with support for hot-swappable batteries. In contrast, the Pro Rugged 14 provides a larger display with higher peak brightness and an optional Nvidia workstation GPU.

Both models also include NPUs rated at up to 50 TOPS, enabling supported AI workloads on the device. However, actual AI performance will depend on the configuration and software being used.

At their respective starting prices, the laptops target specialised business requirements rather than everyday consumer computing
