News in Short

  • Stuffcool has launched Staycool, a new brand focused on personal cooling products.
  • The range includes Turbo, Turbo+ and Mist personal coolers.
  • Prices start at ₹1,799 during the introductory period.
  • The coolers use semiconductor cooling, brushless motors and USB Type-C charging.
  • The launch comes in October, raising questions about the timing of a summer-focused product.

Stuffcool has entered the personal cooling category with a new brand called Staycool. The company has launched three portable coolers aimed at everyday use.

The range includes Staycool Turbo, Turbo+ and Mist. Introductory prices start at ₹1,799, while the products are available through Stuffcool’s website and offline stores.

However, the launch comes with an interesting timing question. Staycool is being introduced in October, when India’s summer is largely behind it and winter is approaching.

That makes the launch less about immediate summer demand and more about building a new category ahead of the next heat season.

Why is Stuffcool launching personal coolers now?

The timing is certainly unusual for a product positioned around Indian summers. October marks a transition towards cooler weather across much of North India.

For instance, Delhi’s normal maximum temperature falls from 34.7 degrees Celsius at the start of October to around 31 degrees by the end of the month.

Yet the heat has not disappeared completely. Delhi has also experienced temperatures above 35 degrees in early October this year.

Therefore, there is still a use case for personal cooling. However, the bigger opportunity could be preparation for the next summer rather than the current one.

Stuffcool appears to be entering the category early. That gives Staycool several months to establish the brand before temperatures begin rising again.

Three coolers target different everyday situations

Staycool’s first lineup includes three models designed around different use cases.

The Turbo is positioned as the everyday option. It combines ChillSpot semiconductor cooling technology with a 12,000 RPM brushless motor and five-speed airflow.

It also gets a 2,400mAh battery. The device can work as both a handheld cooler and a desktop unit.

Meanwhile, the Turbo+ focuses more heavily on portability. It weighs 157 grams and features an adjustable foldable neck.

The model also gets semiconductor cooling, five-speed airflow and a larger 3,000mAh battery. According to the company, it is the lightest model in the range.

Staycool Mist adds water-based cooling

The third model takes a different approach. Staycool Mist combines airflow with a built-in cooling mist spray.

It gets a detachable magnetic water tank and a 13,000 RPM brushless motor. The battery capacity also increases to 3,600mAh.

That makes the Mist the most feature-focused model of the three. It is designed for situations where airflow alone may not provide enough cooling.

Across the lineup, Staycool includes five-speed airflow, brushless motors, LED displays and USB Type-C charging.

From consumer tech to personal cooling

The Staycool launch builds on Stuffcool’s 12 years of experience in consumer technology. The company is now applying that experience to a category outside its traditional technology products.

The positioning is also deliberately lifestyle-focused. Instead of presenting personal coolers as basic appliances, Staycool wants them to fit into everyday routines.

That includes commuting, desk work, outdoor activities and travel.

The idea is simple. Traditional cooling can be limited to a room or fixed location. A personal cooler can travel with the user.

Is October too late for a summer product?

The timing remains the most interesting part of this launch.

Launching a summer-focused product in October may seem late, especially when winter is approaching in several parts of India. However, it could also be a deliberate strategy.

Staycool is entering a category that becomes relevant again every year. By launching now, Stuffcool can establish awareness, test demand and build distribution before the next summer season.

At the same time, India’s weather is not uniform. October can still bring uncomfortable heat, particularly during the day.

So, while Staycool may have missed the peak summer buying window, the company could be looking beyond this season.

For now, the range gives Stuffcool an early entry into India’s growing personal cooling category. Whether consumers see enough value in carrying a dedicated cooler, however, will determine if the category can move beyond being a seasonal novelty.
