The sub-₹15,000 smartphone segment has become increasingly competitive. Buyers no longer have to settle for basic hardware to stay within budget.
There are now phones offering 5G connectivity, high-refresh-rate displays, large batteries and capable cameras in this range. However, every phone makes a few compromises.
Some focus on battery life. Others prioritise displays or cameras. Then there are phones that aim to offer a cleaner overall experience.
If your budget is capped at ₹15,000, these are five phones worth considering right now.
Mivi One 5G
Starting price: ₹12,999
Mivi One 5G is an interesting entry because it is the first smartphone from the Indian audio brand.
The phone gets a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, Android 16 and up to 8GB RAM with 128GB storage. It also packs a 6,000mAh battery and IP64 protection. Current listings put the base model at ₹12,999, while the 6GB variant is listed at ₹14,999.
In my review, the biggest strength was how the hardware and software worked together. The clean Android 16 interface helped the phone feel responsive, while the 50MP main camera delivered natural-looking images in daylight. The 6,000mAh battery also comfortably lasted a full day.
The 18W charging is slow, and the HD+ display is not particularly sharp. Still, Mivi has created a well-rounded first smartphone.
Best for: Clean software and balanced everyday use.

Redmi Note 14 SE 5G
Price: ₹13,999
If display quality is high on your list, the Redmi Note 14 SE 5G deserves attention.
It has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,100 nits peak brightness. The phone also gets Gorilla Glass 5, IP64 protection and dual stereo speakers. Xiaomi Japan
The camera setup includes a 50MP Sony sensor with OIS. It also has a 5,110mAh battery with 45W charging.
That combination makes the Redmi particularly interesting for people who want a more premium-looking display experience without moving beyond the ₹15,000 budget.
Best for: Display and camera features.
POCO C85x 5G
Price: ₹13,999
The POCO C85x 5G takes a different route by focusing on battery capacity and a large display.
It has a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood sits the Unisoc T8300, paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The phone also packs a 6,300mAh battery. Beebom Gadgets
The compromise comes with charging. The battery supports 15W charging, which is considerably slower than some competitors.
Still, if your priority is getting a large display and long battery life for less money, the POCO makes a reasonable case.
Best for: Large display and battery capacity.
Lava Shark 2 5G
Price: ₹11,999
The Lava Shark 2 5G is one of the cheaper options on this list.
It combines a 6.75-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Unisoc T8200 processor and a 6,000mAh battery. It also gets IP64 protection and Android 16. Gadgets 360
After using the phone, its biggest strengths were clear. Battery life is dependable, the 120Hz refresh rate makes everyday navigation smoother and the software avoids excessive clutter.
However, its 13MP primary camera and 5MP selfie camera are modest. Performance is also adequate rather than impressive, particularly when several apps remain active. Lava Shark 2 Review (1)
At ₹11,999, though, it remains a sensible option for buyers who want to spend less.
Best for: Battery life on a tighter budget.
vivo T5e
Price: ₹13,999
The vivo T5e is another option for buyers who want to stay below ₹15,000.
The phone comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, a 6.74-inch HD+ display and a 5,500mAh battery. It runs OriginOS 6.0 and offers IP64 protection. Vivo Store
The problem is that its 15W charging and 64GB storage look less competitive against some of the other phones here.
So, while the vivo branding and software experience may appeal to some buyers, its hardware package is not as compelling as the Redmi or Mivi at this price.
Best for: Buyers who prefer vivo’s ecosystem and software experience.
Which phone should you buy?
There is no single winner for every buyer in this price range.
The Redmi Note 14 SE 5G is the strongest choice if display and camera features matter most. The POCO C85x 5G makes more sense for buyers who want a large screen and bigger battery.
The Lava Shark 2 5G is the value pick for buyers who want to spend closer to ₹12,000. Meanwhile, the vivo T5e offers another familiar-brand option, although its hardware is less compelling.
For me, the Mivi One 5G is the most balanced choice. Its Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, clean Android 16 software, 50MP camera and 6,000mAh battery come together well for everyday use.
It is not the most powerful phone here. Its display is also not the sharpest. But when you consider the overall experience and its ₹12,999 starting price, the Mivi One 5G is the phone I would pick for a balanced budget experience under ₹15,000.
