Samsung has unveiled its new Galaxy Tab S12 series with a focus on productivity, creativity and AI. The lineup includes the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+.
The tablets combine large Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with a new 3nm processor, long battery life and Galaxy AI features. Samsung is also expanding the software ecosystem with professional apps and accessories.
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra Gets a 5.1mm Design
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra measures just 5.1mm in thickness. Samsung calls it the thinnest Galaxy Tab yet.
The company has also focused on sustained performance. A new 3D Vapor Chamber helps manage heat during demanding workloads. Both tablets also carry an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
Battery life is another highlight. Samsung claims up to 23 hours of battery life on the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. The Galaxy Tab S12+ can deliver up to 21 hours.
Both models support 45W charging. Samsung says a full charge takes around 95 minutes with the compatible adapter.
3nm Chip Brings a Performance Boost
The Galaxy Tab S12 series uses a 3nm processor designed to improve performance across demanding workloads.
Samsung claims up to 61% faster NPU processing, 19% faster CPU performance and 17% improved GPU performance compared with the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra.
This should help with tasks such as video editing, graphics work and multitasking. The company has also designed the cooling system to maintain performance during extended workloads.
Large AMOLED Displays With 1,600 Nits Brightness
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra features a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab S12+ gets a 12.6-inch panel.
Both displays can reach up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness. Samsung has also upgraded Vision Booster to adjust brightness based on surrounding lighting conditions.
The Ultra is aimed at users who want more screen space for complex workflows. The Tab S12+ offers a slightly more compact option while retaining the same display technology.
Samsung has also upgraded the audio experience. Both tablets feature four-channel spatial audio, which doubles the number of channels compared with the previous generation.
Galaxy AI Turns the Tablet Into a Workspace
The Galaxy Tab S12 series runs Android 17 with One UI 9 and the latest Galaxy AI features.
Users can divide the screen into three sections through Multi Window. This allows them to take notes, watch a lecture and use an AI assistant at the same time.
The bundled S Pen adds support for handwriting, annotations and sketching. Note Assist can also summarise notes while users continue working.
Samsung is also bundling a six-month trial of Google AI Pro. Gemini can help users explore topics, while Gemini Notebook can combine notes, images, recordings and files. It can then create summaries, podcasts and quizzes.
Samsung Browser can also understand content across multiple tabs and browsing history. It can summarise information from open pages and surface previously viewed sources.
Professional Apps Expand the Use Cases
Samsung is positioning the Galaxy Tab S12 series beyond traditional tablet use.
Adobe Photoshop comes pre-loaded on the tablets. Samsung says this marks the first time Photoshop has come pre-loaded on an Android tablet. Users also get four months of free access to the Photoshop mobile plan.
The lineup also includes Notability, while Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Notion and Clip Studio Paint come with various trials or discounts.
Other supported apps include MyScript Math, MyScript Notes, Noteshelf 3 and ArcSite.
For users who want a laptop-style setup, Samsung offers the Pro Keyboard with a dedicated Galaxy AI Key. The Book Cover Keyboard Slim provides another typing option.
Galaxy Tab S12 Series Availability
The Galaxy Tab S12 series will be available from October 7 in select markets. Samsung will offer the tablets in Gray and Silver.
The company has not provided pricing in the supplied announcement. However, Samsung says both the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ support up to seven generations of OS upgrades and security updates.
