Xiaomi has teased the India launch of the Xiaomi 18 Pro following its China debut. The flagship smartphone is also expected to reach other global markets.
The company shared a teaser showing the Xiaomi 18 Pro in a blue finish. It confirms that the Pro model is headed to India, although Xiaomi has not revealed the launch date or price yet.
The announcement also marks a change from last year. Xiaomi kept the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max exclusive to China. Indian buyers could therefore get access to the Pro series’ rear display for the first time.
Xiaomi 18 Pro India Launch Gets a Teaser
Xiaomi India has teased the phone on X with a “coming soon” message. The teaser specifically names the Pro model instead of referring to the complete Xiaomi 18 lineup.
This suggests that the phone is currently the only model confirmed for India. Xiaomi has not confirmed whether the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will also launch in the country.
An earlier report suggested an India launch by December. However, Xiaomi has not officially confirmed that timeline.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro launched in China on September 23. It starts at CNY 5,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant.
A 2.7-Inch Rear Display Sets It Apart
The phone features a secondary display on the rear. This 2.7-inch AMOLED panel has a 596×912-pixel resolution and supports a 120Hz refresh rate.
The rear screen can also reach up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness. Xiaomi has positioned the secondary display as one of the key design features of the Pro series.
The primary display measures 6.4 inches. It uses an AMOLED panel with a 1,120×2,436-pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The main display also reaches up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness. This gives the phone two high-refresh-rate displays instead of relying solely on the main screen.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Powers the Phone
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 18 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. It comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
The smartphone runs Android 17-based HyperOS 4. This puts Xiaomi’s latest software experience alongside Qualcomm’s newest flagship mobile platform.
For connectivity, the phone supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS and USB Type-C. The handset also includes support for modern wireless connectivity standards.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Packs Two 200MP Cameras
Photography is another major focus of the Xiaomi 18 Pro. The phone gets a triple rear camera setup with two 200-megapixel sensors.
The main camera uses a 200-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilisation. It is joined by a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, also with OIS, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera.
For selfies and video calls, Xiaomi has equipped the phone with a 50-megapixel front camera. The combination gives the Xiaomi 18 Pro a high-resolution setup across its primary and telephoto cameras.
7,000mAh Battery With 100W Charging
The Xiaomi 18 Pro packs a 7,000mAh battery. It supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
The phone also supports up to 27W wired reverse charging. This allows the handset to provide power to compatible accessories and other devices.
In China, the Xiaomi 18 Pro is available with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The top-end 16GB + 1TB variant is priced at CNY 8,999, while a transparent version costs CNY 9,999.
Xiaomi has yet to announce the India price and availability details. More information is expected closer to the Indian launch.
