OpenAI has launched GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna as its latest AI models. The two models bring some of the training techniques used for GPT-6 Astra to lower-cost model tiers.

The new models focus on professional work, coding, computer use and factual accuracy. OpenAI also says they deliver improved performance while costing significantly less than their GPT-5.6 predecessors.

At the same time, OpenAI says GPT-6 Luna reduced its cost per task by 58 percent. The company also says Luna can match GPT-5.6 Sol at higher effort at about one hundredth of the cost.

That combination makes cost efficiency a central part of Luna’s positioning.

4. Fewer factual errors and clearer responses

OpenAI is also highlighting improvements in factuality. According to the company, GPT-6 Sol makes about half as many mistakes as GPT-5.6 Sol in its internal factuality test.
