Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5 Put Replaceable Batteries First

The biggest change with the Momentum True Wireless 5 is not related to sound. Sennheiser has made the batteries user-replaceable.

The feature applies to both earbuds and the charging case. According to Sennheiser, replacing the batteries takes only a few minutes and requires a compact screwdriver.

This could make the earbuds easier to maintain over a longer period. Battery degradation is one of the common reasons users eventually replace wireless earbuds, so the new approach could extend their usable life.

Up to 40 Hours of Battery Life

Battery endurance has also improved. The earbuds can deliver up to 12 hours of playback on a single charge.

With the charging case, total listening time reaches up to 40 hours. There is also a quick-charge feature that provides up to an additional hour of playback after eight minutes of charging.

The charging case itself gets a slimmer design, making it easier to carry in a pocket.

New Design and Improved Comfort

Sennheiser has redesigned the Momentum True Wireless 5 with a slimmer profile compared to the previous generation.

The company describes the new fit as “barely there”. Sennheiser says testers preferred the new design over the previous generation by 73 percent.

The new shape is aimed at making the earbuds more comfortable during longer listening sessions.

Updated ANC and AI-Powered Calls

The Momentum True Wireless 5 also gets improvements for calls and noise cancellation.

Sennheiser has added an AI speech enhancement algorithm to improve voice clarity during calls. The earbuds use a four-microphone array alongside redesigned ear tips for the updated ANC system.

The company also claims the new setup delivers its most natural-sounding real-time transparency mode yet.

24-bit/96kHz Audio and Spatial Sound

For audio playback, the earbuds use Sennheiser’s 7mm TrueResponse transducers.

They support Bluetooth 6.0 and can stream music at up to 24-bit/96kHz. Users can also customise the sound through an eight-band EQ available through Sennheiser’s companion app.

Spatial audio is supported as well. The feature uses head-tracking accelerometers to adjust the audio experience as the listener moves.
