Tecno has launched the Pova 8 Pro 5G in India, adding a large battery, high-refresh-rate AMOLED display and an unusual rear notification system to its latest smartphone. The phone starts at ₹49,999 and will go on sale through Flipkart from August 21.
Alive Matrix Adds a New Twist
The standout feature of the Pova 8 Pro 5G is its rear Alive Matrix display. Tecno has integrated 177 mini LEDs on the back of the phone. The system can create a breathing-light effect across more than 49 scenarios. This gives the rear panel a visual element beyond the standard camera module.
144Hz AMOLED Display and Dimensity 7400 Ultimate
The Pova 8 Pro 5G features a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 1,208 x 2,644-pixel resolution. It supports a 144Hz refresh rate and displays up to 1.07 billion colours.
Under the hood, the smartphone uses the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset. It also gets an ARM Mali-G615 MC2 GPU and Tecno’s P1 graphics chip.
For sustained performance, Tecno has added a vapour chamber cooling system with a 5,000 sq mm heat dissipation area.
6,500mAh Battery and 50MP Camera
The phone’s 6,500mAh battery is paired with 45W wired charging. It also supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC.
For photography, the dual-camera setup combines a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. A 13-megapixel camera sits on the front.
The Pova 8 Pro 5G measures 162.48 x 77.27 x 7.39mm and weighs around 189 grams.
