Key Highlights

  • Telegram has introduced a Rich Text Editor for Premium subscribers.
  • The update also brings Communities to organize groups, channels, and bots.
  • Bots can now send private, ephemeral messages inside group chats.
  • Telegram has expanded its GIF library to over 350 million GIFs across 36 languages.

Telegram has rolled out a significant platform update that adds several productivity and community-focused features to its messaging app. The latest release introduces a Rich Text Editor, Communities, Ephemeral Bot Messages, and a much larger GIF library, further transforming Telegram from a simple messaging platform into a collaboration and content-sharing hub.

While some features are available to all users, the new Rich Text Editor is currently exclusive to Telegram Premium subscribers.

Rich Text Editor Brings Document-Like Messaging

The headline feature of the update is the new Rich Text Editor, allowing users to create highly formatted messages without relying on third-party tools.

Users can now add headings, tables, numbered and bulleted lists, quotes, code blocks, and inline formatting to messages. Images and videos can also be embedded directly within the text, making long-form posts more interactive and easier to read.

Telegram says users can send messages containing up to 32,768 characters, making the editor suitable for newsletters, documentation, announcements, and detailed project updates.

The editor also integrates Telegram’s Cocoon-powered AI tools, enabling AI-assisted writing and editing directly within the messaging experience.

Communities Organize Related Chats

Telegram is also introducing Communities, a feature designed to bring related groups, channels, and bots together under a single umbrella.

Instead of searching for multiple groups individually, users can browse and join connected chats from one central community page. Administrators can choose whether community chats remain visible to everyone or are accessible only to specific members.

The feature is aimed at creators, businesses, educational organizations, gaming communities, and large online groups that manage multiple conversations across different topics.

Members can also add new chats to a community, although administrators retain control through customizable community settings.

Bots Become More Personal

Telegram’s latest update improves how bots interact with users inside group chats through Ephemeral Bot Messages. Rather than posting responses that everyone in the group can see, bots can now send private replies visible only to the user who triggered the interaction.

These messages can include welcome greetings, AI-generated summaries, confirmations, error notifications, or other contextual information without cluttering group conversations. Telegram says the feature builds on its existing Guest Bot mode and makes AI-powered assistants significantly more useful inside busy communities.

Bigger GIF Library With Private Search

The platform has also expanded its GIF collection to more than 350 million GIFs available in 36 languages. Telegram says GIF searches remain completely private, allowing users to discover and share animated content without compromising their search history. The expanded library should improve search results across a wider range of languages and cultural contexts.

Why This Matters

Messaging platforms are increasingly evolving into productivity ecosystems, and Telegram continues to position itself beyond traditional chat applications.

With rich document editing, structured communities, AI-friendly bot interactions, and improved multimedia sharing, the latest update strengthens Telegram’s appeal for creators, businesses, educators, and large online communities. While the Rich Text Editor remains a Premium-exclusive feature for now, the broader update reflects Telegram’s growing focus on collaboration, content creation, and AI-powered communication.
