iRobot has introduced a refreshed Roomba lineup as it looks to strengthen its position in the smart cleaning market. The company has unveiled five new robot vacuums and, for the first time, expanded beyond robotic cleaners with the launch of the Roomba Electro Plus, a cordless floor cleaner that combines vacuuming, mopping, and disinfecting in one device.
The announcement comes after a challenging year for iRobot, with the company focusing on expanding its product portfolio while introducing new cleaning technologies across its latest devices.
What is the new Roomba Electro Plus?
The biggest addition to the lineup is the Roomba Electro Plus, iRobot’s first non-robotic floor cleaner.
Unlike traditional cordless vacuum cleaners, the Electro Plus can vacuum, mop, and disinfect floors simultaneously. Instead of relying on chemical cleaning solutions, the device uses ordinary tap water. An internal electrolysis system converts the water into a disinfecting solution designed to remove bacteria and other microorganisms without leaving chemical residue.
The cleaner also features DirtDetect technology, allowing it to automatically increase suction when it detects heavily soiled areas.
To simplify maintenance, the spinning mop cleans itself while operating, and anti-tangle rollers help prevent hair from wrapping around the brush.
What makes the new Roomba robots different?
Alongside the cordless cleaner, iRobot has refreshed its premium robot vacuum lineup.
Leading the range is the Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock, which replaces the traditional mop pad with a roller-style mop designed to improve floor cleaning performance.
A new retractable plastic cover automatically shields the wet roller whenever the robot moves onto carpets, helping prevent moisture from reaching carpeted surfaces.
The robot also includes an AutoWash Dock that empties the dustbin while washing and drying the mop automatically after each cleaning session.
Other smart features include heated water mopping, AI-powered obstacle avoidance, and DirtDetect technology that adjusts cleaning performance based on floor conditions.
How much do the new Roomba models cost?
The Roomba Electro Plus is priced at $399.99, making it one of the more affordable additions to iRobot’s portfolio.
Meanwhile, the flagship Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock is priced at $999.99.
According to the company, the new devices are available for preorder and are expected to reach retail stores by the end of July.
Why does this launch matter for iRobot?
The latest product refresh represents an important expansion for iRobot as it moves beyond traditional robot vacuums for the first time.
By introducing a cordless floor cleaner alongside upgraded robotic models, the company is targeting consumers who want both automated cleaning and manual flexibility within the same product ecosystem.
The refreshed lineup also adds smarter cleaning technologies, self-maintenance features, and improved mopping systems as competition in the premium smart home cleaning market continues to grow.
With the launch of the Roomba Electro Plus and its latest robot vacuums, iRobot is broadening its smart cleaning portfolio while offering users more options for automated and manual floor care.
