Clicks has offered its closest look yet at the upcoming Communicator smartphone through a new hands-on video. The device combines a physical BlackBerry-style keyboard with Android, targeting users who prefer typing on tactile keys instead of touchscreen keyboards. Scheduled to ship in the fourth quarter of 2026, the smartphone is priced at $499.

The latest preview gives a better look at the phone’s hardware, software, and several productivity-focused features designed for messaging, email, and everyday communication.

What Is the Clicks Communicator?

The Clicks Communicator was first unveiled during CES 2026 in Las Vegas. Unlike most smartphones that rely entirely on touchscreens, the Communicator features a full physical keyboard below its display, giving it a design that closely resembles classic BlackBerry devices.

The phone is aimed at professionals and users who spend significant time texting, emailing, or writing on their smartphones. The keyboard is also touch-sensitive, allowing users to interact with the interface using gestures in addition to physical key presses.

According to the company, future software updates will further expand the keyboard’s capabilities.

What Features Make It Different?

While the keyboard is the biggest attraction, the Communicator introduces several features that distinguish it from traditional smartphones.

One standout addition is the Signal Light, a customizable notification indicator placed on the side of the phone. Users can assign different colors and lighting patterns to contacts, apps, or groups, making it easier to recognize important notifications without unlocking the device.

The smartphone also supports interchangeable back covers, giving users a way to personalize the hardware.

In addition, Clicks includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, a physical SIM tray alongside eSIM support, expandable microSD storage of up to 2TB, and a dedicated hardware switch for quickly enabling or disabling Airplane Mode.

These hardware choices reflect a focus on practicality rather than following current smartphone design trends.

Who Is the Phone Designed For?

Clicks says the Communicator is built for users who want a more focused smartphone experience.

The company has partnered with Niagara Launcher to provide a simplified Android interface that minimizes distractions while maintaining access to Android apps.

Combined with the Signal Light, the setup allows users to monitor important notifications without constantly checking social media or gaming apps.

The device could appeal to former BlackBerry users as well as professionals looking for a productivity-first smartphone.

When Will It Launch?

The latest hands-on video features pre-production hardware and early software ahead of commercial availability.

Earlier this year, prototype units shown at CES impressed attendees with their comfortable grip and responsive keyboard. The company also revealed that it continues refining key pressure to improve typing speed before mass production begins.

More demonstration videos highlighting features such as the Signal Light, Prompt Key, Message Hub, and touch-sensitive keyboard are expected ahead of launch.

With its combination of nostalgic design and modern Android features, the Clicks Communicator is positioning itself as a distinctive alternative in today’s smartphone market.
