These systems are set to change modern warfare, with the Indian Army planning large-scale deployment.
Xploder: AI-Powered Kamikaze UGV for Counter-Terrorism
Xploder is designed for reconnaissance and attack missions. This AI-driven vehicle can identify and eliminate threats without putting soldiers at risk. Major Prasad explained that it is ideal for counter-terrorism operations, ensuring swift action in hostile areas.
MRMS: The Walking Mine That Hunts Targets
The MRMS is an autonomous mine that tracks and neutralizes enemy movements. It is being developed in partnership with EEL, ensuring mass production for battlefield deployment. This advanced technology will redefine mine warfare, making India a leader in autonomous defense systems.
Replacing Mules with AI-Powered Robotic Dogs
The Indian Army is also replacing 4,000 mules with AI-driven robotic dogs. These quadruped machines, revealed at the 77th Army Day parade in Pune, are designed for high-altitude operations. They can carry supplies, gather intelligence, and function in extreme temperatures. India is the first country after China to deploy such robotic companions for military use.

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi emphasized the shift toward automation. He stated that the Indian Army is committed to scaling indigenous AI solutions. The establishment of the Indian Army AI Incubation Centre (IAAIIC) in Bengaluru further accelerates this push.

Major Prasad’s innovations are strengthening India’s self-reliance in defense. The Army Design Bureau is transferring technology to private manufacturers for large-scale production. Upcoming projects like Agniastra, an AI-driven missile defense system, are further solidifying India’s position as a global leader in robotic warfare.
